Roofing manufacturers typically provide installation instructions with the materials they sell. However, it is often difficult to follow these guidelines and meet the building codes for the materials used. To combat this, the NRCA has established the Installation Instructions Review Task Force. This group reviews the manufacturers' installation instructions and provides suggestions for improvement. The goal is to make the installation instructions more useful to installers and the general public. The International Residential Code (IRC) also has provisions similar to the NRCA's.The NRCA's role is to provide guidance for the installation of roofing products and systems. The association also publishes a list of best practices, ensuring that installers are following the best practices for each installation.

The NRCA is a part of Research + Tech, which help manufacturers create new and improved materials and services. For more information, visit the NRCA's website. Once you've read the instructions, you'll be better equipped to get started. The first step in the installation process is to prepare the roof for the application of shingles. To prepare for the next layer of shingles, lay the roofing felt over the top of the sheathing. This will prevent ice dams from forming, which will force water to back up under the shingles. After the roofing felt is installed, the next step is to apply the final layers of shingles. This is the most important step in the installation process.

Roofing is hard work and requires strength. Whether you're completing the roof yourself or hiring a roofing company, you should be physically fit to do the job. It's important to make sure you don't have a fear of heights, and that you're able to carry a bundle of shingles. You can also practice your skills by practicing with a friend or family member. A good roof requires a skilled and knowledgeable roofer.Roofing felt is the material on which the roofing shingles are installed. It can be made of synthetic or natural materials. The underlayment should be waterproof and non-stained. During the installation process, the shingle should be nailed directly to the underlayment. A valley flashing must be installed on the roof's underside. A properly installed ice and water protector membrane is necessary on the roof. During a storm, the shingles should be placed in the valley so that the rainwater does not collect underneath them. The underlayment must be in place before roofing shingles are installed. The valley flashing must be made of 28-gauge, galvanized metal. Depending on the manufacturer's requirements, the installer must also adhere to the manufacturer's installation instructions. After all, a roofer should follow all instructions thoroughly, but it is not a good idea to skip any step. Inspect the roofing materials before installing the underlayment.
